Fifty years of crucible manufacturing
Magna Industrials has supplied investment casting companies, precious metal producers and the furnace industry since its formation in 1976. From our works on the Andoversford Industrial Estate near Cheltenham, we manufacture crucibles, atomising nozzles and backing mixes for customers across the world.
We remain a family run business, and the original specialist in isostatically pressed crucibles for high temperature alloys. That focus, refined over fifty years, is why customers return to Magna melt after melt.

The isostatically pressed crucible is developed
Rolls-Royce approach the company Bryan Harris works for to develop a crucible for casting aerofoil blades. Bryan and his team of material scientists produce the first isostatically pressed crucibles.
1976
Magna Industrials founded in Leicestershire
Bryan and Paul Harris start the company to supply isostatically pressed crucibles to investment casting foundries and precious metal refineries.
1983
Incorporated as Magna Industrials Limited
The company formally incorporates as the business grows.

How we manufacture, from mixing to final inspection

Refractory materials are automatically weighed, mixed and graded before pressing or casting, with every batch following a fixed mix design of optimum mineralogy and particle size.
Pressing & casting
Shapes are formed by isostatic pressing or vibro casting, producing a uniform, homogeneous refractory body with solid walls, low porosity and high density throughout.
Firing
Parts are fired in modern gas fired kilns under PLC temperature control, with uniform kiln temperatures to 1650°C and accurate, consistent heating and cooling cycles.
Inspection & quality assurance
Qualified inspectors check every part before firing and again before dispatch. Each part carries a kiln batch number for complete traceability, supported by in-house testing.
